SURGERY AND ANESTHESIA
We are an American Animal Hospital Association accredited hospital. In keeping with the Association standards, we have an IV catheter in place and give IV fluids during most surgical procedures. A veterinarian performs all
surgeries and administers all anesthesia while a veterinary assistant is dedicated to anesthetic monitoring.
Parameters such as blood pressure, body temperature, breathing, heart rate and rhythm, and oxygen saturation
are continuously monitored and recorded. We do preanesthetic blood work before, and send home pain medication after. During surgery recovery, patients are routinely assessed for pain using a pain scale. If scores indicate patient discomfort, then additional pain medication is given. Our thorough patient monitoring and assessment before,
during, and after procedures assures the safest anesthesia experience possible. |
